As the national luxury market cools off, the need for creative solutions has become a priority. In vacation-home markets, where most only use their homes 2-3 months a year, Cohana Homes and THIRDHOME are providing unique solutions.

 

Cohana Homes. I am co-founder of co-ownership company, Cohana Homes, which specializes in exclusive partnerships in luxury vacation homes. We facilitate the creation of an LLC of 2, 3 or 4 co-owners to share in the use and expense of a vacation home. With a set the exit sale date, the home re-sells in the regular whole ownership market just like any other property. We do not do timeshare or fractional.

THIRDHOME. I recently partnered with THIRDHOME, which is a very successful home exchange company. Many desire the freedom to travel to different destinations and THIRDHOME allows a qualifying vacation-home owner to submit time in their vacation home to the Exchange for someone else in the program to use. This allows the owner to use one of THIRDHOME’s 15,000 luxury homes around the world. My listings include the “built-in” opportunity for the buyer to participate in the THIRDHOME Exchange.

Community Service/Philanthropy

Maui Preparatory Academy: I am a Founding Member, retired 14-year Board Trustee and 8-year retired President of the Board of Trustees.

I have donated a portion of my commission income 18 years in a row to Maui Prep totaling over $500,000.

The Administration Building was recently named the “Dean and Michelle Otto Building” and the lobby of the new gymnasium is named “Otto Lobby”.
